About BMW X5 M
The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover produced by BMW. Introduced in 1999, the X5 was BMW's first urban SUV. At launch, it was equipped with AWD and was available with manual or automatic transmission. The second generation was launched in 2006. It is equipped with the xDrive AWD system with torque distribution and automatic transmission. In 2009, the X5 M Performance version was introduced for the 2010 model year. The X5 M is produced primarily in North America at the BMW Group's plant in Spartanburg. It is also assembled in Russia at the Avtotor plant and in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. An armoured version of the X5 M is also produced at BMW's Mexico City plant for security reasons.
The BMW X5 M is a high-tech version. The BMW X5 M is the first car to be equipped with M GmbH's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The M model has the same equipment as the standard X5 and the M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. The sports car offers exceptional handling with a suspension optimised specifically for the M model and the new M Servotronic power steering system. Other advanced technologies include Launch Control for maximum acceleration and the M six-speed sport automatic transmission. The BMW X5 M is equipped with BMW's largest brake callipers ever produced. Traction control is standard, but the M Dynamic Mode system limits its power and allows some wheel and cornering flexibility.
