1976 BMW 2002 Brake Caliper Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and refit a brake caliper on 1976 BMW 2002?
A: To remove the caliper for hub or disc removal, undo the fluid line bracket from the suspension strut, and the nut of the caliper to adjust it aside tying it. To reduce loss of hydraulic fluid in total removal for overhaul or renewal, then remove the reservoir cover; cover the filler neck with polythene sheet; replace the cover and allow the vacuum to do its work. Commence by lifting the car through jacking the road wheel and the removal of the wheel then taking out the disc pads. After this, unbend the fluid connections from the caliper using the unions, then remove the two bolts that are used to secure the caliper and purely pull out the caliper off the disc. Refitting is performed in reverse sequence to removal, and once done bleed the brake hydraulic system and remove the plastic sheeting from the reservoir filler cap if used.
