- Q:How to remove and install the rear left or right seat belt assembly and rear side trim on a convertible on 2014 BMW 428i?Posted by Choi M.A:Remove the rear seat bottom by first removing the rear seat headrests and folding the rear seat back down, open the convertible roof cover and, if necessary, open the convertible top, and remove the rear side trim; on both left and right sides unclip trim, release clamps, release fasteners and lever out covers to remove fasteners underneath, feed seat belts (C) out of guides and lift off the top trim, release fastener and remove the deflection fitting, the deflection fitting is keyed and only fits one way, release fastener and remove the seat belt reel, remove the seat belt anchor bolt at the base of the backrest and lift out the seat belt; for installation reverse the removal steps, ensure the seat belt anchor is correctly located on the locating pin, make sure the tab on the seat belt reel engages the body slot, and use new self-locking bolts.Answered by BMW Parts Specialist Noah / Jan 05, 2026
