Remove the driveshaft and extract the circlips from the outer end of each needle bearing cup. Mark the relationship of the flange to the driveshaft yoke for proper refitting. Use a socket slightly smaller in diameter than a bearing cup on one cup's end face and a larger socket on the opposite yoke face, applying pressure in a vice to partially eject one cup. Grip the ejected cup and twist it from the yoke to extract the needles, then turn the joint 180° and use the smaller socket to eject the opposite pair of bearing cups. For the new universal joint repair kit, press one cup halfway into the yoke, insert the needle bearings held in place with grease, then insert the spider and locate the opposite cup with needles also retained by grease. Press both bearing cups fully into place in a vice, ensuring the needles do not become trapped, and use the narrow socket to depress each cup enough to expose the circlip groove. Position the grease nipple or hole towards the driveshaft and repeat the bearing installation on the opposing pair, aligning the drive flange yoke with the previously marked positions.
