BMW 330i Automatic Transmission Shift Levers Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the shift lever assembly on BMW 330i?
A:
To remove the 6-speed models, raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands. Remove the fasteners and shield for the splash shield. Loosen the clamping nut for the selector cable on the transmission lever. Remove the locknut securing the selector outer cable and take out the cable from the support bracket on the transmission. Remove the center console. Disconnect any wiring plugs attached to the automatic transmission shift levers assembly. Remove the mounting bolts securing the automatic transmission shift levers assembly to the floor and carefully maneuver the assembly up from its location. Note that the automatic transmission shift levers assembly is only available as a complete assembly with the selector cable. For installation, push the boot down the automatic transmission shift levers until the locking groove is exposed. Adjust the shift cable. For 8-speed models, remove the center console trim panels. Remove the four mounting screws for the automatic transmission shift levers, lift the shifter up, and disconnect the electrical connectors. Installation is the reverse of removal.
