How to remove and install the brake light switch on BMW X3?

Remove the left lower dashboard trim located above the pedals. While at the pedal cluster, disconnect the electrical harness connector from the brake light switch. Pull the brake light switch from its holder in the direction indicated by the arrow. To install, depress the brake pedal and hold it with a suitable fixture. Slide the brake light switch as far as it will go into the brake light switch holder, then attach the harness connector. Grip the brake light switch holder, slowly return the brake pedal to its rest position, and pull the switch back to stop. Finally, check the function of the brake light switch with a helper.
