BMW Wiper Blades

Take off the wiper blade by popping the wiper blade insert from the wiper arm guides, should the wiper arm guides narrow a little to make more space use needle nose pliers. Remove the former insert from the wiper arm guides and it is essential to remember the way it was placed. Remove the metal support strips from the preceding insert and fix these in the slots of the following insert taking proper note of the orientation of the cutouts on the support strips. Push the new insert one into the wiper blade guides and then secure at the end guides. Additional variants of the wiper blade may include two tabs for retaining its position.

Some of the regular issues with the windshield wipers include the following; streaking, water droplet formation after wiping, and blade chatter. Streaking is usually due to wiper blades covered with road film or car wash wax; if washing the blades with soapy water does not help, one should replace the blades. Replacing wiper blades is suggested to be carried out twice per a year, in the beginning of cold season and before its end. Streaks that remain after wiping are generally caused by oil, road film or diesel exhaust deposit on the glass, and can be removed with an alcohol or ammonia solution or another duty non-solvent. Streaking, usually caused by either dirty or worn blades or misaligned wiper arms or both can be eliminated by doing the cleaning as earlier mentioned. To confirm proper alignment on the blade, place a tool on the wiper blade fulcrum so as to adjust it to make it perpendicular to the Windshield. Tighten or loosen the wiper arm twist in proper way using wrench or any necessary tool to have equal pressure on the wiper blade and have 90 degree angle with the windscreen when not in operation. If issues persist it may be needed to replace the blades and or arms of the wipers.

Pull the wiper motor out of the grommet.

Before reinstalling, replace rubber mounting grommets as necessary.

Pivot the wiper arm off the windshield.
