Remove the air cleaner, then syphon the fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir and disconnect the supply hoses from the cylinder, except on North American versions with integral reservoirs. Next, disconnect the fluid pressure lines from the brake master cylinder, marking the pipe connections if there is any likelihood of confusion during refitting. Unscrew and remove the nuts securing the brake master cylinder to the front of the servo booster unit. When refitting, check the condition of the 'O' ring seal between the flange of the brake master cylinder and the servo unit, renewing the seal if necessary. For tandem type brake master cylinders, maintain a clearance of 0.002 in (0.5 mm) between the end of the pushrod and the brake master cylinder piston, inserting shims behind the pushrod domed nut if needed.
