2011 BMW 335i Control Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the rear Control Arm on 2011 BMW 335i?
A: Check wheel alignment if the swing arm is removed by raising the car and removing the rear wheel. Support the rear wheel bearing carrier with a suitable jack, then remove the coil spring. If equipped, remove the ride height sensor. Next, remove the lower shock absorber fastener, followed by the lower shock absorber mount fasteners to take off the mount. Mark the eccentric washer location on the subframe, then remove the fasteners and eccentric washer to take out the swing arm from the vehicle. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring the subframe swing arm fastener head faces the rear of the vehicle, using new self-locking nuts. Tighten the fasteners to final torque only after the vehicle has been lowered and the suspension has settled. Have the car professionally aligned when the job is complete.
