How to replace the front and rear brake pads for single piston calipers on 2014 BMW 428i?

Front and rear brake pad replacement procedures are similar so replace pads in sets; raise and safely support the car and remove the wheels, then measure pad lining thickness using BMW special tool 34 1 260 at either the right front or left rear wheel by moving the wheel until the wear-indicator notch is visible, inserting the tool tip into the notch so the tool body rests on the pad backing plate and the tip touches the rotor, and replace pads if at or below minimum thickness per specifications; pry off the caliper anti-rattle spring, remove the brake pad wear sensor by hand, remove plastic caps from the caliper guide bolts and use a 7 mm Allen wrench to remove the bolts and lift the caliper from the pad carrier (if a ridge exists on the rotor edge, press the caliper pistons back before removal), inspect rotor thickness and surface and replace if below minimum or deeply scored or glazed, remove the brake pads (the inner pad has a locating spring), compress the caliper piston with BMW special tool 34 1 050 or equivalent (remove some fluid from the reservoir with a clean syringe first to prevent overflow), check and replace damaged dust boots, clean contact surfaces between caliper and carrier, apply a thin coating of BMW anti-squeal compound to the caliper contact face and to the pad rests on the carrier while avoiding the caliper rubber dust sleeve and not applying grease to the pad backing plate, use brake cleaner only to preserve caliper surface coating, install directional pads in their marked orientation if applicable, insert a new pad wear sensor into the pad cutout until it locks (sensor is fragile and single-use; if the wear light was on before replacement, replace the sensor or reset CBS data), route the sensor wiring through the caliper opening and under the bleeder dust cap, reinstall components in reverse order of removal, clean caliper guide bolts and replace any not in perfect condition without greasing, top off brake fluid to the MAX mark, pump the brake pedal several times before driving so pads contact rotors, and with doors closed turn the ignition to the accessory position for at least 30 seconds to clear fault codes and turn the brake pad warning light off, then reset the condition-based service system if the light remains on.
