BMW 325i A/C Accumulator

The A/C Accumulator in the BMW 325i plays a vital role in your car's air conditioning mechanism, filtering contaminants and moisture. The A/C Accumulator is an HVAC component sitting in the low-pressure line after the evaporator. This component contains a desiccant bag that absorbs moisture. In addition, there is a screen inside the accumulator that captures particles. This filtration device prevents any particles from damaging the compressor pistons or clogging the expansion passages. The A/C Accumulator removes liquid refrigerant and excess oil so that only clean, dry vapor enters the pump. This improves performance and increases the life of cooling circuit components in modern BMWs. With years of driving, the desiccant becomes saturated, and the chamber fills with trapped dirt. This makes A/C Accumulator replacement critical whenever the sealed system is opened or contamination is suspected. The early BMW 325i models and the later 325i models all use the same cylinder-shaped setup and not a separate receiver drier. This is because this rear drive platform puts the accumulator on the suction side for dependable oil return. Although the dimensions vary slightly, all the BMW versions use an A/C Accumulator that performs the identical job, and installing a new unit after major A/C repairs restores confident cabin chill.
