BMW 325i A/C Evaporator Core

The A/C Evaporator Core of the BMW 325i is a component located within the cooling circuit that removes heat and moisture from cabin air. In a car's air conditioning system, the A/C Evaporator Core is a compact aluminum radiator mounted under the dash next to the heater core. Inside are narrow tubes that send refrigerant that is cold as it passes through. The blower pushes warm air against the fins of the core. Heat passes from the air into the refrigerant, and cool dry air flows back into the car. The unit also dehumidifies the cockpit by condensing moisture during this exchange and passes the collected water out a drain tube. Aluminum construction was chosen for the A/C Evaporator Core in the 325i models because of its lightweight and heat absorption characteristics. The earlier and later 325i, along with a few other models, have the same fin-and-tube layout with improvements to alloys and tighter seals that prevent leaks affecting some earlier BMW fin-and-tube parts. An intact A/C Evaporator Core is necessary for all years. A pinhole leak permits the escape of refrigerant that stops cooling. If corrosion, debris accumulation, or a clogged drain tube compromise the part, a new A/C Evaporator Core will restore full functionality of the system. This keeps the BMW 325i climate system dependably cold, as continues to be the case for every BMW.
