How to remove and install a parking brake cable on BMW 328i?

Detach the front ends of the cables from the lever equalizer arm. Remove the rear brake discs. Remove the cable retaining bracket bolt and the bracket from the rear hub assembly. Rotate the wheel so the expander is visible through the hole (7 o'clock position). Press the release spring, in the expander, towards the rear of the vehicle, while pulling the cable from the backing plate and out of the expander. Working back along the length of the cable and noting its correct routing, free it from all the relevant retaining clips. Insert the cable into the brake carrier/guard plate, and push it in up to the stop on the cable outer sleeve. Grip the sleeve of the cable end, and push it into the expander until it snaps into place. Installation is the reverse of removal. Prior to installing the center console, adjust the parking brake.
