BMW 335i Brake Caliper Bracket

The BMW 335i Brake Caliper Bracket firmly holds the front or rear caliper in place to ensure that pad pressure is converted directly into rotor stopping force. By preventing lateral pad movement, the Brake Caliper Bracket maintains wear evenly, stops vibration, and maintains the perfect pedal feel owners have come to expect from a performance-minded 335i. Its heavy-duty steel body is a partner with lubrication-friendly bushings, pins, and stainless clips, all part of the small but critical family of brake hardware in the case of BMW models described above that promote sliding action and noise-free stops. When bushings corrode or boots tear, the Brake Caliper Bracket can allow calipers to drag, leading to tapered pad surfaces, poor performance, and even heat fade during spirited 335i drives. Early production units mirrored original BMW metallurgy, while later versions adopted high chromium stainless construction and optional PTFE coated clips, which increased durability and resistance to attack from road salt without affecting fit, meaning that any 335i from coupe to sedan has a direct swap. Whichever style you select, a visual inspection of the Brake Caliper Bracket whenever pads or rotors are replaced is a smart precaution, as a damaged Brake Caliper Bracket defeats the balanced hydraulic bite that the engineers have designed into every BMW braking circuit.

BMW 335i Brake Caliper Bracket Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q:
How to properly detach and inspect brake calipers and Brake Caliper Bracket while ensuring safety and preventing fluid leakage on BMW 335i?
    Posted by Dale T.
    A:
Insert the pedal prop and depress the brake pedal slightly to prevent brake fluid from escaping when detaching the brake lines. Raise the car and support it safely, then remove the wheels. For the left front wheel, work in the junction box within the wheel housing to separate the brake pad warning sensor electrical harness. For the right rear wheel, remove the right rear wheel well housing liner and then separate the brake pad warning sensor electrical harness in the junction box. At the brake caliper, loosen the brake hose fitting and use shop towels to catch any dripping brake fluid. Remove the pad carrier and caliper mounting bolts from the steering knuckle for the front caliper or from the wheel bearing carrier for the rear caliper. Lift off the caliper and spin the assembly off the hose, plugging any open fluid lines and ports. Inspect the brake caliper for signs of leakage and ensure the caliper piston slides smoothly into the caliper, replacing it if any faults are found. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, and the entire brake system must be bled before driving the car.
