Raise the car and support it safely, then remove the splash shield from under the engine. Disconnect the intake air duct from both the left and right sides of the intercooler. While working at the front of the
Radiator, release the lock on the intercooler cover in the direction indicated by the arrow, then release the cover and remove it. Remove the fasteners at the sides of the intercooler and take it out from below. When installing, ensure that the sides of the intercooler fit securely into the notches of the intercooler bracket. Coat the sealing rings of the intake air ducts with antiseize paste, as fitting the air ducts to the intercooler without it is nearly impossible. Reattach the intake air ducts using the BMW special tool 11 8 670, ensuring that the ducts snap audibly into place. It is strongly recommended to use special clamping jaws (special tool 11 8 670) for proper installation to prevent damage to the air ducts. The right side is shown, and the left side is similar.
