Steering Wheel away from the dashboard as far back and as low as possible. Remove the driver airbag and remove the steering wheel. Caution: Do not move the front wheels from the straight-ahead position while the steering wheel is off and do not turn or twist the airbag and horn contact spring. Remove the steering column trim, left lower dashboard trim and left dashboard panel, disconnect harness connectors for the steering column switch cluster and remove the steering column switch cluster. Remove fasteners at the top of the steering column while an assistant supports the column. Working underneath the steering column, remove fasteners, guide the column out of the steering collar (8) and remove it. For installation, reverse removal and ensure the
Steering Shaft and steering column are aligned, with an assistant slide the spindle sleeve from the footwell onto the universal joint, make sure the steering shaft collar is clipped into the bulkhead correctly, use new bolts to mount the column to the dashboard support, and check the steering system for freedom of movement through the entire steering column adjustment range.
