How to remove and install the coolant reservoir on the BMW X3?

The coolant reservoir can be removed and replaced only in case the cooling system has been drained. AII right, turn off and disconnect the cooling fan and cowl. On the reservoir bottom, unscrew the level sensor connector and remove the retaining clip. Remove the hose retaining clips and remove the upper and lower coolant hose connection. To remove the reservoir, place some force on a little high of the mounting bracket and shift the tank backward and pull it out. For removal: grasp the bottom of the tank and lift upwards until the tank is free of the mounting bracket and the retaining clip is disengaged. Last but not the least, add coolant to the cooling system and let out air through the process known as bleeding and also look for any possible leaks.

BMW X3 Coolant Reservoir

The BMW X3 Coolant Reservoir maintains the safety of the SUV's engine by absorbing the expanding coolant and letting it back in once temperatures cool, preventing spills and air from getting in. Positioned next to the radiator, this plastic tank collects overflow so that rust-producing oxygen never lingers within passages and provides molded level marks on which owners check the engine level when cold.
