How to bleed the Brake Caliper and brake system using a pressure bleeder on BMW X5?

Remove the plenum cover to access the brake fluid reservoir and top off the reservoir. Connect a pressure bleeder to the reservoir and pressurize the system to approximately 2 bar (29 psi), ensuring not to exceed this pressure to avoid damaging the brake fluid reservoir. Connect the bleeder hose and bottle to the right rear caliper bleeder screw, and have a helper hold the brake pedal down. Open the bleeder screw and have the helper slowly pump the brakes about 10 times with the bleeder screw open, holding the pedal down on the last pump. Once the escaping fluid is free of air bubbles, close the bleeder screw. Ensure the bleeder hose remains submerged in clean brake fluid whenever the bleeder valve is open. After closing the bleeder screw, release the brake pedal, refill the brake fluid reservoir, and proceed to the left rear wheel. Continue bleeding the remaining wheels in the following order: left rear, right front, and left front.

The Brake Caliper of the BMW X5 is meant to apply pedal pressure to clamp strongly, pressing the pads against the rotors to stop the vehicle safely. The recent BMW X5 Brake Caliper is a device by which hydraulic fluid is applied to press one or more pistons that are positioned inside cast-iron or aluminum bodies. Those pistons, which are made of steel or phenolic material, translate that fluid pressure into mechanical grip. The X5 is served by two primary styles, a floating Brake Caliper that has its piston or pistons only on the inboard side and slides on pins to pinch the disc, and a fixed version that fixes rigidly while opposing pistons squeeze in from either side for firmer, more balanced stopping. BMW models with floating units opt for simplicity and lower weight, while fixed units on performance-oriented X5 trims deliver greater pedal feel and more even pad wear.
