Raise the vehicle and remove the wheel. With an assistant applying the brakes, break free and remove the staked collar nut. Disconnect the brake pad sensor connector at the brake caliper, then remove the brake caliper assembly and rotor while leaving the brake hose connected to the caliper. Suspend the caliper assembly from the chassis using stiff wire. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the brake shoe expanders. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor at the wheel bearing carrier, followed by the rear drive axle. Remove the wheel hub from the bearing assembly using BMW special tools 33 2 116 / 33 4 200 and 5 wheel bolts, noting that the wheel bearing is destroyed when the hub is removed, necessitating a replacement. To install, lightly oil the wheel hub and attach it to the splines of the output shaft, then use BMW special tools 33 2 115 / 33 2 116 / 33 2 118 to draw the wheel hub into the wheel bearing carrier. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of removal, and remember to adjust the parking brake upon completion.
