Where is the brake light switch located and How to remove and install it on BMW Z4?

The brake light switch is mounted on the pedal bracket on the under dash side. To take it off, unbolt the driver's side lower dash panel screws and free the area, then, the panel has to be detached from the car. Turn back behind the dash to remove the electrical connector of the switch and pull out the switch from the mounting. If necessary the clips should be pressed in order to pull out the switch mounting off the pedal bracket. For installation, apply a hard brake and while doing this, engage the switch by pushing it firmly to the intended place. To adjust the brake light switch, use a finger to hold the switch in place while gradually letting off the brake pedal until the switch returns to its 'stop', at which point the brake light switch will be adjusted. If the pedal is released too quickly, the switch will be wrongly set. Lastly reconnect the wiring connector and test the operation of the brake lights, this should light up when the brake pedal has moved about 3/16-inch (5 mm). If the switch does not function correctly, it has to be replaced because there can be no further adjustment made on it. Last but not the least; replace the driver's side lower dash panel.
