Be aware of the warm exhaust components while driving under the vehicle where you locate the oil drain plug. Start engine and allow it to run until thermostat opens; then stop engine. Park your car on a flat surface, turn off its power source and open the filler cap of its engine block. Jack up the vehicle using jackstands. Open splash shield flap, which gives you access to both oil pan drain plug for removing old motor oil from beneath your car's engine as well as filter house hold that is situated in front end bulkhead walling into which new filtering elements should be fitted.. Raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands. Open the flap in the splash shield to access the oil pan drain plug.

Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug, loosen it with a socket or box wrench, and remove it by hand to let the oil drain into the pan. When the oil flow has diminished to an occasional drip, reinstall the drain plug with a new metal sealing washer and torque it.
