    How to service the Air Filter Box, including disconnecting the mass air flow sensor and removing the air filter housing in a six cylinder engine on BMW X3? Posted by Customer

    For air filter servicing, disconnect the mass air flow sensor connector, release the mass air flow sensor clips, and remove the filter box mounting bolts. Disconnect the air duct and lift the complete air filter box out of the engine compartment, pulling it forward away from the mass air flow sensor. While working at the throttle body, loosen the duct clamp and remove the duct from the throttle body. Installation is the reverse of removal, and after reinstalling, check and clear fault codes from ECM memory.
