Before disconnecting it, the Shift Cable has to be unlocked from the selector lever assembly. To increase accessibility, turn on the parking brake, lift the front part of the car and put it closely on jackstands. On one end of the Shift Cable, there is a clamp bolt that has to be held firmly while the securing nut is to be loosened, but should ensure the end of the cable is not bent. Subsequently, unscrew the securing nut and disconnect the Shift Cable from the transmission bracket and move the cable end off from the connectors then remove the entire cable out from under the car while making it a point to notice the type of routing that has been employed for the right installation of the cable. As regard to the installation process, the process is reversed to above-mentioned removal process but it is important not to tighten the cable end securing nut and bolts because the adjustment is required first. Ensure that you reconnect the Shift Cable to the selector lever assembly then adjust when you are through. To adjust, shift the selector lever to P, hold the clamp bolt and then turn the clamp nut that is on the end fitting of the Shift Cable while the car is lifted up. Pull the operating lever on the transmission towards the near side in order to get to the Park position, then press the end cable of the clutch toward the bracket, loosen it and pull the bolt of the nut while tightening the clamp nut. Last check of the Shift Cable adjustment is when the engine is running, the brake pedal depressed and move through all the available positions on the selector lever.
