With the exhaust system fully cooled down, raise and support the car for access to the exhaust system. Separate the rear mufflers from the center muffler. Remove the center muffler hanger mounting nuts and place a tall jack stand under the center muffler to support the exhaust system. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger mounting fasteners at the chassis and transmission rear mount, then remove the front pipe mounting bolts to lower the muffler and pipe. Exercise caution as the exhaust system is heavy and should be lowered with the help of an assistant. The installation follows the reverse of removal, ensuring to use new gaskets and hardware while coating the hardware threads with anti-seize paste. Maintain at least 20 mm (3/4 in) clearance between the exhaust system and vehicle underbody at every point, and loosely install the exhaust system mounting hardware and hangers before tightening the fasteners to their final torque.

While working underneath the rear of the vehicle, if necessary, unclip the rear bumper extension to gain access to the rearmost muffler hangers. Remove the left or right rear muffler hanger mounting bolts and then remove the spring-loaded bolts at the center muffler to lower the rear muffler. Exercise caution as the exhaust system is heavy and should be lowered with the help of an assistant. For installation, follow the reverse of the removal process, ensuring to use new gaskets and hardware while coating the hardware threads with anti-seize paste. Verify that there is at least 20 mm (3/4 in) clearance between the exhaust system and the vehicle underbody at every point. Loosely install the exhaust system mounting hardware and hangers before tightening the fasteners to their final torque. The rubber mount for the rear muffler at the rear subframe is color-coded by engine application, with the 6-cylinder mount being gray and the V8 mount being red, as mixing up rubber mounts can alter the exhaust system's vibration characteristics.
