It is assumed in this process that the clutch disc and the pressure plate are to be replaced. Raise the car and support it safely. After that, take off the splash shield beneath the transmission, and then the intermediate muffler and shield. If applicable, detach the transfer case and tie it to the side along with the front and rear driveshafts. Remove transmission from engine. Using an appropriate tool or equivalent, lock the flywheel in a fixed position; then, evenly release the six bolts that mount the clutch before removing the pressure plate and clutch disc. Finally, the release bearing and lever module must be removed from the transmission input shaft as a complete unit. If not, the bearing must not be separated from the combined release bearing and lever module, or it will be incorrectly installed.
