The release bearing, pivot, and release cylinder pushrod contact faces on the Clutch Fork should be inspected for wear. The Fork should be replaced if excessive wear is evident. The Clutch Fork retaining spring clip should be checked and replaced if necessary. It is advisable to replace the clip as a matter of course. Installation involves cleaning the release bearing contact surfaces on the Clutch Fork and guide sleeve. No grease or lubricant should be applied to the sliding surfaces of the bearing or guide sleeve. The Clutch Fork/bearing assembly is slid into position over the guide sleeve, then the end of the Fork is pushed over the pivot, ensuring that the retaining spring clip engages correctly over the end of the Clutch Fork. The Fork should engage correctly with the retaining clip. Finally, the transmission is installed.
