If the tall light, running light, or side marker light is inoperative, first thing to do is to test for battery voltage and ground at the electrical connector of the light. If battery voltage is present check bulb socket and electrical connection ground terminal for ground connection. If both are present at the light connector but not in the socket or the ground terminal connector then clean the socket and the ground terminal connector. If voltage is present at the ground and ground is present at the bulb socket, replace the bulb. If one is missing, check for a blown fuse by referring to the circuit diagram and if none is found, then check for an open circuit. If the tail, running, or side marker light flickers, you should examine the filament in the bulb and replace it if the filament is broken or fused; examine the bulb and the socket for corrosion and, if they are corroded, clean them or replace them with new ones. Also, look for those wires and electrical terminals, which are loose, damaged or corroded and fix them and also ensure the proper functioning of the light switch and replace it if needed. If there is very low light emission of the tail light, running light, or side marker light, refer to the bulb and socket and clean or replace them if possible. Also, also, look for ION voltage at the bulb socket positive terminal or poor ground; when voltage is low or the ground is marginal check the wiring and suspect connections to be tested and replaced, if wires or terminals are frayed or corroded or loose.
