For the removal of M52TU engines, begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and proceed to remove the air cleaner housing, mass airflow sensor, and ducting. Disconnect the throttle cable(s) and release retaining clips to disconnect the air intake ducting from the throttle body and idle speed control valve, also disconnect any attached wiring connectors. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the oil pressure and oil temperature switches near the oil filter. Unclip the fuel lines and fuel regulator vacuum hose if applicable and disconnect the oil return line from the dipstick guide tube. Remove the guide tube and discard the O-ring seal, replacing it with a new one. Remove the cable duct mounting screws/nuts and disconnect the wiring connector from the throttle body, unscrewing four bolts to remove the throttle body from the intake manifold. When installing, ensure the throttle body-to-intake manifold O-ring seal is in good condition and tighten the four bolts securely. On M52TU engines, reconnect the throttle body wiring connector by aligning the arrows and rotating the connector collar. For M54 engines, simply install the wiring connector. Complete the installation in reverse, and if a new throttle body is installed, reset the stored values in the ECM using dedicated equipment. On M54 engines, ECM adaptation may be performed by following specific ignition and engine start procedures. Disconnect the negative battery cable for M54 and M56 engines, then remove the air cleaner housing and disconnect the wiring connector, vacuum hose, and intake ducting. Remove the DISA adjustment unit from the intake manifold and unscrew the bolt securing the suction jet tube. Release clamps and disconnect the intake ducting from the throttle body and idle speed control valve, followed by the idle speed control valve wiring connector. Disconnect wiring connectors for oil temperature and oil pressure switches near the oil filter housing, and detach the tank venting valve wiring connector by pressing the retaining clip.
