Lift the front of the car and take off the road wheel, the car must be supported on safety stands beneath the lattice work with the jack placed on structure chassis and not on suspension. The final step is to unbolt the splash shield positioned directly under the engine and also take measurement reference from the outer tie rod end to the tie rod which will be saved for later use. The measurement helps in estimating the proper wheel alignment as and when new parts are put on and it is worthy to note the position of the inner taper on the locking ring. Near the outer end of the tie rod, it is essential unfasten the tie rod lock nut that is at the steering knuckle and also, open the tie rod adjustment lock nut. Use a particular remover on the steering knuckle tie rod end, thereafter, loosen the tie rod end from the tie rod shaft. Installation is in the reverse order to the removal, always making certain that all threaded parts are clean and smearing some anti-seize paste on the inner tie rod threads. New self-locking nuts should be used where available and previously made reference marks should be used to temporarily set the toe. Once the steering is rebuilt, take the car to a professional and get the alignment done and then perform a steering angle sensor relearn using a scan tool.

Inspect the boot for any signs of damage and replace it if necessary, using new band clamps that come with the new rack boot.
