    Q:
How to replace the wheel bearing on BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Lift the car and take off the front tyre. With the appropriate drift, set the nut collar side which is staked, free. An assistant must also keep the brake pressed down while using the BMW special tool 31 2 080, to unscrew the collar nut, which must not be reused. Take off the bolts, but do not disconnect the brake hose and hang the brake caliper on the side with stiff wire, take off the brake disc. The wheel hub has to be removed using BMW special tools no.: 33 2 160, 33 2 116, 33 4 200 and 5 wheel lugs with the rounded inside edge of special tool no. 33 2 160 to be facing the wheel hub. Loosen the bolts that hold the steering knuckle and pull it off the car and then put the knuckle in a bench vice with aluminum faces. The wheel bearing circlip is removed with the snap ring pliers after which, the wheel bearing is to be removed using the BMW special tools namely; 31 2 113, 33 4 261, 33 3 266, and 33 3 261. Looking at the dust sleeve one should change it if it is worn out. It is crucial to have this surface clean and apply, to the 50% of this length, Loctite 638® as the bearing points towards the wider chamfer of the bearing at the steering knuckle side. Angle the bearing so that the wide chamfer of the bearing faces towards the steering knuckle and using BMW-special tools 31 2 113, 22 1 018, 33 4 262, and 33 3 261 pull the new bearing into the hub. Remove the old circlip from the vehicle and replace it with the new wheel bearing circlip on the appropriate position. Extract the wheel hub and adopt it into the steering with the use of BWM special tools 32 2 113, 33 3 268, 33 3 263, and 33 3 261. Fit the steering knuckle, centre-pivot the front axle into the steering knuckle, and mount the front brake disc along with the caliper. Coat lightly the contacting parts with oil, and, with the help of an assistant holding down the brake, in a clockwise order, and with the prevailing torque, turn the nut on to its required degree of tightness. Last of all, using a suitable drift, strike the side of the axle nut to the axle.

    Q:
How to remove and install the Wheel Hub on BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Raise the vehicle and remove the wheel. With an assistant applying brakes, break free and remove the staked collar nut. Disconnect the brake pad sensor connector at the brake caliper, then remove the brake caliper assembly and rotor while leaving the brake hose connected to the caliper; suspend the caliper assembly from the chassis using stiff wire. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the brake shoe expanders and remove the ABS wheel speed sensor at the wheel bearing carrier. Remove the rear drive axle and the wheel hub from the bearing assembly using BMW special tools 332116/33 4 200 and 5 wheel bolts, noting that the wheel bearing will be destroyed when the hub is removed. Replace the wheel bearing, lightly oil the drive axle spline teeth, and insert the drive axle into the wheel hub. Screw BMW special tool 332 2 05 into the drive axle, ensuring not to oil the axle or collar nut threads. Depending on the axle bearing outside diameter, BMW special tools 332 118 or 332 119 may be substituted. Align the subframe jack assembly and raise the jack until the subframe is supported, then remove the rear subframe fasteners and front subframe/tension strut fasteners. Slowly lower and remove the rear subframe assembly from the vehicle. To install, jack the subframe into position, install the tension struts in their original position, and tighten the subframe mounting bolts.
