How to remove the electric cooling fan assembly mounted on the 2006 BMW X5?

N62 engine equipped cars have an electric cooling fan located on the side of the engine cooler. First, take off the air intake hood situated on the top of the radiator - it can be pulled up with a little help of the screws which are plastic, and there is a lock button situated on the air duct. Subsequently, the air duct has to be disconnected from the intake air filter housing. Disconnect the electrical connectors and unbolt the coolant hose connection from the fan shroud. Now while you are up on the radiator, unplug the electrical connector of AUC sensor and put the harness out of the way. Last of all you put pressure on the fasteners present on the extreme end of the cooling fan cowl on both left side and right side and then pull the cowl upwards towards the engine.
