When replacing a CV boot use a complete boot repair kit which is available for purchase from an authorized BMW dealer parts department, the kit comprises of a new boot, clamping bands, and special lubricant, and a new outer CV joint axle circlip. First, get rid of the drive axle next, detach the inner CV boot of both ends of the retaining clamp so as to pull back the inner boot so as to release the inner CV joint housing. Subsequently, release and slidingly take out the circlip which retains the triple roller bearing to the drive axle and then, taking out the triple roller bearing. Slide the boot off the drive axle and split the inner CV joint boot adapter from the boot. Remove the old lubricant from the axles splines and triple roller bearing splines before fitting the new inner CV joint boot then sliding the boot onto boot adapter and retaining clamps and ensuring the retaining clamp fits tightly around the drive axle. Position the triple roller bearing in such a manner that the flat edge of the joint is towards the retaining circlip, then position the inner CV joint housing shaft circlip Insert fresh CV joint grease into the triple roller bearing and the boot. Place the triple roller bearing back into the inner CV joint housing, next tighten up the boot connection with the supplied boot spacer. All the remaining practices of the installation are done in the reverse order of the removal. Last of all, have to look at the front differential oil level and add some oil if needed.
