How to properly remove and install the door latch assembly on a BMW 335i without causing damage or contamination?

Do not use silicone lubricant on the door latch, as latch faults have been traced to silicone contamination. Begin by removing the door trim panel and carefully peeling off the vapor barrier covering the inner door cavity, taking care to avoid damage, as a damaged vapor barrier should be replaced to prevent possible water leaks. Partially remove the window regulator to gain access to the door latch. At the corner of the door at the latch assembly, detach the electrical connector and the door lock rod from the latch assembly, and pull down to detach the Bowden cable. Remove the door lock cylinder. Inside the door, disconnect the Bowden cable and detach the electrical harness from the latch. Remove the latch fasteners and take out the latch assembly from inside the door. For installation, reverse the removal process while ensuring not to bend the door lock button metal rod when inserting it through the door skin opening. Hand tighten the fasteners to properly seat the door latch seal before fully tightening, replace the latch mounting screws using threadlock compound, and ensure that the seal on the latch is not damaged and that the inner door cavity vapor barrier is installed intact and leak-proof.
