How to remove and install the door lock cylinder on BMW 335i?

Open the door and, working at the rear edge, pry out the plastic cover from the access hole. Use a 4 mm Allen wrench to remove the lock cylinder mounting screw. Slide the lock cylinder slightly toward the rear of the car and out of the door. Installation is the reverse of removal. Replace door handle gaskets if damaged and reset comfort access (CA) by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

BMW 335i Door Lock Cylinder

The BMW 335i Door Lock Cylinder allows the driver to lock or unlock the cabin by twisting the mechanical key in the door. This metal barrel is situated in the front door skin and connects the key cuts to the internal pins. When matched, the plug rotates to slide the latch linkage to lock or unlock the car in one smooth twist. Early BMW 335i models carried a Door Lock Cylinder on both front doors for redundancy.
