Remove the torque converter slowly and set it down vertically to prevent spilling additional fluid. When reinstalling the torque converter, ensure that the new seal is not damaged. Lightly oil the converter seal surface and rotate the converter during installation, applying slight pressure until the recesses in the converter audibly locate in the ATF pump. Finally, press the converter in firmly, as improper installation can destroy the impeller driver in the converter when mating the transmission to the engine.
