Remove both pre-
Catalytic Converters and release the right side tie rod from the steering rack. Next, remove the intercooler, drain the engine coolant, and take out the coolant expansion tank. Proceed to remove the coolant pump and both vacuum reservoirs, followed by the air box and air intake duct. Remove the fasteners on the oil return line and its bracket, then gently pull the oil return line out of the engine block. Working between the turbochargers, remove the fasteners and coolant supply lines. If necessary, grasp the coolant supply line flange with pliers for removal, avoiding the use of pliers on pipes. Remove the fasteners at the coolant inlet pipe and take out the pipe, then remove the coolant return pipe fasteners and the return pipe itself, using pliers on the flange if needed. Remove the fasteners at the retaining plate and the heat shield, ensuring the shield and coolant pipes remain undamaged. Take off the fasteners from the bracket and lay it on top of the cylinder head. If replacing the turbocharger, remove the fastener for the oil supply line and install the supply line on the new unit, always replacing graphite gaskets. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of removal, ensuring to use new O-rings, gaskets, and hardware while coating hardware threads with anti-seize lubricant. Finally, check and clear the fault memory using a BMW scan tool, and inspect the air intake and exhaust systems for leaks.
