Following manufacturer's instructions, connect an approved refrigerant recovery, recycling, or recharging unit to the AIC system and discharge the system. Disconnect the battery negative cable, ensuring to read the battery disconnection cautions beforehand. Remove the strut bar and the wiper arms. Twist three quick-release fasteners 90° to loosen the cabin microfilter cover and remove the microfilter. Unclip the cowl panel from blind fasteners and lift it off the vehicle. Remove fasteners at the rear of the plenum chamber and lift it off the vehicle. Pull off the weather strip and release locks to pull the side trim forward slightly. Remove fasteners for the heater bulkhead, then lift it off and remove it from the vehicle. Working in the right rear of the engine compartment, detach the A/C lines by removing the A/C recharging port bracket mounting nut and the allen bolts at the bulkhead, then release and plug the open A/C lines. In the right side of the cowl, pull on the lever to detach the right air intake flap from the blower housing, release the fastener, and remove the refrigerant line from the expansion valve. Release the fasteners and remove the expansion valve, with installation being the reverse of removal. Finally, recharge the system according to the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
