To have access to the right side to remove and install the Fuel Level Sensor, one first has to take off the fuel tank service cap. With a screwdriver, take time to disconnect the various electrical connectors with a lot of care. Use BMW special tool no 610307 to remove the Fuel Level Sensor wiring from the bluish electrical connector located inside the tank; it is advisable to note the position of the wiring so as to ensure correct reconnection. When positioned inside the fuel tank, then to disconnect the Fuel Level Sensor wiring read the directions of the tabs by pulling and pressing the tabs in the said directions. Push this Fuel Level Sensor downwards so that it may come out of the guides. For installation, insert the Fuel Level Sensor up into the guides on the sensor holder until it clicks into it. Set the sensor wiring in the cable guides then take it through the upper loop of fuel tank support. Connect the Fuel Level Sensor wiring to the blue connector then follow the following installation process as a guide on how to go about it, To remove the component. When done with the repair work please ensure that there is at least 5 liters (1.5 gallons) of fuel in the tank before the engine is turned on so that the
Fuel Pump is not damaged.
