Inspect the clutch disc for wear, cracks, loose rivets, contamination, or excessive run out (warping) and replace if necessary. Measure the depth of the clutch lining at the lining rivets; if the shallowest rivet depth is less than 1 mm (0.04 in), replace the clutch disk. Examine the flywheel for scoring, hot spots, cracks, or loose or worn guide pins, and replace it if any faults are found. If the flywheel is removed from the engine, use new bolts during installation. Ensure the transmission pilot bearing rotates smoothly without play and replace it if faulty. Inspect and clean the release bearing lever, applying a thin coat of grease to the lubrication points, and lightly lubricate the clutch disc splines and transmission input shaft splines. Check the release bearing ball stud and spring retainer, replacing them if damaged or worn, and clean the release bearing guide sleeve, taking care not to grease it to avoid the release bearing sticking.
