There are two window rails in each front window regulator, only one in the rear window regulator. Otherwise the front and rear regulators are similar. The electronically-controlled window motor does not have mechanical end positions. For this reason the motor can be removed and installed with the window in any position. To remove and install the front window regulator, first remove the window regulator and motor as one unit. If necessary, separate the two on the bench. Then, remove the front door panel. Disconnect the negative(-) cable from the battery and remove the airbag unit. Next, remove the vapor barrier from the door. After that, remove the window from the door. Disconnect the electrical harness connector at the window motor. Remove the fasteners and feed the rear section of the window regulator out of the door cavity. Unclip the regulator cable from the retaining clip on the door. Remove the fasteners from the front regulator section and feed the front section with the drive mechanism out of the door cavity. The top fastener is covered by foam insulation. Peel back the foam to access the nut. To install, reverse the removal process. Route the wiring harnesses to keep them away from the moving window mechanism. Use new wire ties as necessary. Adjust the window. Initialize the sunroof after reconnecting the battery.
