Check for looseness between the
Control Arm and
Steering Knuckle, and inspect the ball joint boot for damage. If there's looseness or the boot is damaged, replace the ball joint. Special tools are needed for this. If unavailable, have a BMW dealer or certified repair facility do it. Remove the lower control arm, mark the control arm-to-ball joint for reference, and press the bearing out. Align the new ball joint with the mark and press it into the control arm. Reinstall the control arm, test drive, and adjust the wheel alignment if needed.
