BMW 21521116300 Clutch Slave Cylinder

The clutch master and clutch slave cylinders should be replaced together as a pair, as one failing usually indicates the other will fail soon after. To begin the removal process, remove enough brake fluid from the reservoir until it drops below the refill line connection. Then, raise and support the vehicle and place a drain pan under the clutch slave cylinder. Using a flare nut wrench, loosen the fluid line without removing it completely. Remove the retaining bolts and pull the clutch slave cylinder down, then remove the line from the cylinder. To install, place the clutch slave cylinder on the transmission, ensuring the correct cylinder diameter is used for engines with a dual mass flywheel. Tighten the bolts and fluid connections to the specified torque. Install the cylinder with the bleed screw facing down and coat the front pushrod with high temperature grease. Finally, bleed the system periodically using fresh fluid, following the proper guidelines to ensure a clean and air bubble-free system.
