Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable; before doing so, read the battery disconnection cautions in 001 Warnings and Cautions, raise the engine hood into the service position, raise the vehicle and support it safely, then remove the splash shield and front end reinforcement if applicable from under the engine, drain and dispose of front differential fluid, remove the front drive axles and the front propeller shaft, and lower the front suspension subframe; remove the indicated bolts and lower the differential carefully, ensuring no lines, hoses, or harnesses snag, replace the O-ring between the oil pan and differential before reinstalling and coat the O-ring with differential oil, install the differential to the oil pan, then reassemble in reverse order, making sure to replace the drive axle flange seal before installing the drive axle and check and top off the front differential oil level as needed.
