If it is a front or rear wheel, and it's a click, check if there is debris, including a pebble, nail, or glass in the tyre or the tread; if there is, remove it; small pebbles don't puncture a tyre but sharp objects should be looked at by a tyre repair centre. Also look for constant velocity (cv) joint condition, if it is loose, broken, or worn out then replace it. If the front or rear wheel begins to vibrate at higher RPM, look for a bent rim and if such there is replace it, find out if the tires are imbalanced or whether they are internally damaged and rectify as required and finally look for worn or faded or damaged wheel bearing and if this is so replace it. For front wheel drive cars, if the front wheel will make a clicking sound, then you still need to perform the debris removal as well as the CV joint check. One of the signs is when the rear wheel produces a clicking sound - the same should also be inspected for any remnants and if found should be removed gently. In rear wheel drive cars, if front or rear wheel is making noise that sounds like clicking, again there might be something blocking it and this should be cleared as we have seen above. If ride deserves or vibrates, then look for a bent rear wheel or axle assembly or a cracked or bent axle housing, and replace damaged parts of the system, and check for worn, loose or damaged rear wheel bearings and replace if necessary.

To remove the halfshaft on E30 models, start by removing the rear wheel and axle nut. Then, remove the constant velocity joint bolts at the final drive output flange. Use a suitable tool to press the axle through the bearing and out of the vehicle. To install, place the halfshaft through the bearing and pull into place using the tool. Secure the constant velocity joint bolts and torque them to the specified value. Lubricate the axle nut and torque it to the specified value, then install the lockplate. Finally, install the rear wheel. On E36 models, the process is similar, but you will also need to remove the rear exhaust system, disconnect the stabilizer bar, and remove the ABS sensor. The torque specifications for the axle nut will vary depending on the spindle size. When overhauling the CV-joint, make sure to use the correct CV-boot clamps and do not reuse the old ones. Clean and inspect the CV joints and boots, replacing them if necessary. Pack the outer CV joint with grease and install the boots, securing the clamps. Pack the inner CV joint with grease and secure the remaining clamp. To install the CV-boot clamps, follow the specific instructions for the type of clamp you have.
