A/C Switch, Begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Using a plastic trim tool, pry the A/C switch from the instrument panel, releasing the clip on each side. Be cautious as the crossmember has sharp edges, so wearing gloves is advisable. Remove the heater assembly from the passenger side and ensure the evaporator drain grommet in the floor is clear. Climate control sensor data is processed in the A/C Switch, where driver and passenger climate control settings and requests are entered. While the switch does not directly control all functions and components, it utilizes other control modules for this purpose. The A/C Switch directly monitors inputs from the center console switch cluster (if equipped), solar sensor, rear air distribution knob signal, and ventilation, footwell, and evaporator temperature sensor signals. Additionally, it indirectly receives the condensation sensor signal via K-CAN and illuminates function and backlighting LEDs.

Without iDrive, the A/C Switch can be removed with a plastic prying tool as shown below; In the model with iDrive unscrew the A/C Switch, which is unbolted with a special prying tool; then turn the frontal panel with the knobs, and it is necessary to remember that the plastic gudgeons are at the point D; after that pull back the panel and unlock the connectors lock according to the instructions. Removal is the complete opposite of installation and for this reason, to program and code the new panel, a BMW scan tool is used.
