    Q:
How to remove the oil pan in 2.0L four cylinder engine on BMW 328i? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the oil pan, first disconnect the negative battery cable and take away the engine cover. Then disconnect the strut tower crossbrace, sound insulator, and plastic wheelwell liner. Drain out the engine oil and coolant as well as unplug the coolant hoses situated below cooling fan shroud. Then you shall proceed to undoing electrical connector of steering gear and moving wiring harness from subframe. Consequently, remove subframe outer bolts while unclipping a cable tie. Also, get rid of torsion struts including steering column lower universal joint pinch-bolt. Prop up an engine with respect to an overhead beam or support stand as it lowers a subframe. Get rid of the bolts keeping transmission case towards an oil pan then disconnect an electric connector for an oil level sensor . Undo and detach bolts fastening cylinder block onto oil pan after that release it from below of motor . While removing this tray check the pump suction pipe for any blocking or splitting in terms of harmlessness sweep off if need be . Reinstall old gasket on oil pan or buy a new one. Thus, when installing back oil pan wash surfaces opposite each other and put sealing ring on flange of above mentioned detail . Initiate direct fixing of tray before tightening its attachments with transmission case slightly above screws for fastening casing to crankcase . Tighten all necessary screws firmly thereafter; later being careful not to overdo that process by gradually working on final fasteners connecting these two details together so tightly . Subsequently mount frame using same manner like earlier but ensuring pipes, tubes or cables do not get trapped in-between when lifting crossbar step by step into place again during reassembly process . Now it's high time for taking renewed engine mounts nuts therefore use new screws at frame/plates bolt holes too thereby torquing down all nuts associated with powerplant mounting points . Last but not least , add more coolant into radiator , change motor oils while examining transmission fluid level if your car is auto.
