    Q:
How to replace the roof-mounted antenna and amplifier on BMW 325i? Posted by Customer
    A:
The roof-mounted antenna is bonded onto the panel. Replacement requires special tools and the experience to use them. We recommend this task is handled by a dealer or specialist. An amplifier is installed to boost the signal to the radio unit. On sedan models, the amplifier is located above the high-mounted brake light. On Sports wagon models, the amplifier is located under the rear spoiler. To remove the amplifier on sedan models, remove the brake light, then disconnect the antenna lead and wiring. Remove the retaining bolts and remove the amplifier. Installation is the reverse of removal. Amplifier replacement on Sports wagon models requires removal of the spoiler, which is a complex task requiring special tools and experience. Any attempt to remove the spoiler without the necessary equipment is very likely to result in damage. We recommend this procedure is handled by a BMW dealer or other qualified shop. The antenna is a printed grid type and is located in the rear window. An amplifier, located in front of the high-mounted brake light, boosts the signal to the radio unit. The only way to replace the antenna or amplifier is to replace the rear window.
