On 2.0L engines, the CKP sensor has two connected parts: the connector housing mounted above the starter and the sensor end which is mounted underneath the starter and behind the flywheel. Remove the starter. Disconnect the electrical connector to the CKP housing, then remove the housing bolt. Working through the starter opening, remove the sensor mounting bolt and pull the sensor from the crankcase. Installation is the reverse of removal, making sure that the guide pin on the CKP sensor is inserted in the guiding groove on the crankcase. On 3.0L engine models, the CKP sensor is located below the starter motor. For access, remove the intake manifold. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector, then remove the retaining bolt and the sensor. Note: The retaining bolt is aluminum, and must be replaced. Check the condition of the sealing ring and replace if necessary. Install the sensor and tighten the new retaining bolt to the specified torque. Installation is the reverse of removal.
