BMW 13627595860 Crankshaft Position Sensor

The crankshaft position sensor is found in the bell housing and measures a reluctor wheel on the crankshaft flange, visible through the starter motor hole. To start, turn off the ignition and remove starter. After accessing the starter motor hole in the engine block, remove the mounting fastener that secures the sensor. Take the sensor out of the cylinder block with its gasket. After that, detach the sensor by removing its connector mounting fastener. When installing, use the reverse of the removal process and ensure that the sensor guide pin is located in the crankcase groove. To avoid future problems, it's best to use a new sealing gasket during installation and replace the mounting bolts as well as routing the wiring as it was before. Finally, the fault codes must be checked and cleared in the ECM memory.
