How to safely remove and install a rear Tailgate Lift Support strut on BMW 335i?

Completely open the tailgate and place it on a proper jack that will give it a good number of holding points. Take a retaining clip off the upper end of the pressurized Tailgate Lift Support. Be careful, since it is possible to cause damage to the body and it is extremely heavy, with the gate automatically closing if both pressurized supports are not in place; provide support for the gate before removing a strut. Remove the tailgate to remove the Tailgate Lift Support by pulling it off then remove the retaining clip from the lower end of the Tailgate Lift Support and take out the Tailgate Lift Support. Removal is the contrary of installation and should replace all the clips that were removed during the exercise.
